Former Wuhan Three Towns coach Benjamin Mora has recently been appointed as the new head coach of Mexican club Pachuca. The club announced this news on Wednesday, stating that Mora will lead the team in the upcoming 2026 fall league. The 46-year-old coach expressed in a video introduction that he will quickly adapt to the new environment and demands. Having previously coached Wuhan Three Towns, Mora aims to continue his successful journey at Pachuca.
Before coaching Wuhan Three Towns, Mora accumulated extensive experience in Chinese football, winning multiple championships from 2015 to 2022. He then took on his first Mexican coaching role with Atlas from 2022 to 2023. Despite a solid performance at Atlas, he chose to move to Canada in 2024 to take over York United FC.
Mora's goal is to uphold Pachuca's tradition of nurturing young talent, a system that was successful under Uruguayan coach Guillermo Almada. After Almada's departure, Jaime Lozano attempted to maintain this system but was unsuccessful, leading to the appointment of Esteban Solari. Although Solari had decent results during his tenure, he opted not to continue.
Pachuca will kick off their new season with an away match against Club América on July 18, Beijing time. Mora's coaching journey will be closely watched, and fans are eager to see how he can bring new energy and tactical ideas to the team.
